The Working Girls

Thought we should start every blog with an introduction, shouldn't we?

The Working Girls consists of five girls who met during our years as an undergraduate student in Yogyakarta. After graduation, we  parted ways but stayed close-knitted friends. Each of us five girls have different interests and distinctive taste, and now work in different fields, all currently in Jakarta (hence the name). This blog was started to share the girls' experience on how to survive and make ends meet.

Noriko Adhyanti

Born in 1991 and the oldest of the bunch just by several months. Noriko, a makeup enthusiast, is currently a sales marketing executive in a state-owned carrier. Although she may look intimidating, Noriko actually has a big heart. You can talk to her about any current issues and she will most likely have an opinion.

Mutiara Antartika

Also part of the 1991 line, she is currently a local staffer at a government organization for official development assistance. Mutiara has just as much passion for cats, makeup and skin care just as much as she does for the study and practice of international development.

Christie Afriani

The youngest of the 1991 bunch is teacher at an international school in Jakarta and a passionate traveler. As a teacher, Christie has dreams of improving education in Indonesia. When she's not teaching, she goes backpacking and meets people from around the world.

Dewanti Wardhani

Born in 1992, Dewanti is a journalist at a local English newspaper, specializing in urban development in Jakarta. Influenced by her line of work, she has grown interest for her hometown of Jakarta over the years. In her spare time, Dewanti likes to watch old movies (K-dramas too as a guilty pleasure) and build Nanoblocks figures.

Amanda Himawan

The youngest of the working girls, is a diplomat with a keen interest on human rights, especially for Indonesian migrant workers. Amanda, who has been influenced by her love for Japanese culture, enjoys singing (and dancing?) along to Japanese idol songs in her free time.

as you can see, we're very diverse in terms of jobs and hobbies so you can expect a wide array of writings here... beauty, travel, current issues, or just plain trashtalk lol. Please look forward to our posts! ;)
